Hand-building Short Course
Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 August | 10:00am–4:00pm
Sunday 16 August | 10:00am–12:30pm
Strathalbyn, South Australia
Build confidence in clay through this welcoming three-part hand-building workshop, designed for complete beginners as well as those looking to expand their existing ceramics skills.
Over the course of three sessions, you'll learn the fundamental hand-building techniques of pinching, coil building, and slab construction while exploring a range of clay bodies and their unique qualities. You'll then personalise your work using underglazes, ceramic transfers, texture, and surface decoration before returning for a final glazing session, where you'll learn how to finish your pieces with a selection of studio glazes.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have developed a strong foundation in hand-building and created a collection of functional and sculptural ceramic pieces to take home.
All clay, tools, materials, glazes, and firings are included.
The full-day sessions include a one-hour lunch break from 12:30pm–1:30pm. You're welcome to bring your own lunch to enjoy at the studio, or explore one of the many cafés and eateries in Strathalbyn.
This course is subject to numbers. A minimum of 5 (maximum of 8) participants are required to run this course.
